There's Just Something About ItAug 28, 2010 When you listen to song after song, the band's flaws become obvious even to a tin ear like myself. They don't play that well. Sounds like if they got anything too complicated to play, they'd be in real trouble. The lyrics are often awful if not downright unintelligible. "We'll teach this city to kiss these thighs" (or some such nonsense). And the singer doesn't have that great of a voice. And you can only sometimes understand what's he's singing to begin with.
But you know what? All those "negatives" come together and cancel each other out enough to make a couple of really good songs. The hook is catchy, the music just right and the singer's wail is pitch perfect. (no pun intended).
"Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" are my favorites. But I also enjoyed "Closer", "Revelry" and "17".

Really disappointedAug 12, 2010 Is mainstream music so terrible that an album that has only 2 good songs is praised by millions and even awarded a grammy? WTF. I went and bought this album yesterday after hearing so many good things about it. The only good songs on this album are "Closer" and "Use Somebody". The rest of the songs are filler tracks. There are tons of other bands out there that put out albums where EVERY song is good. This is just plain and boring. Nothing stands out except for a few melody lines here and there that last 5 seconds. This is the type of music you'd hear at grocery stores, movie theatres, and places like that. There's nothing catchy about this music. I want my 15 dollars back. Next time I actually buy a cd I'll stick to the lesser known bands that actually write cool material that turns heads.
Kings still rock!Aug 06, 2010 As usual the Kings have created an entirely new sound! An amazing CD!A lot of energy and filled with great ballads as well as rocking songs. I wish they would've made "Frontier City" and "Beneath The Surface" actual songs ON the album, it would've been sweet. But what they put on the album was still amazing! The order of the songs is perfect and makes it easy to listen to from beginning to end.
